Every now and then I ask myself why certain baseball strategies or pitching styles fade in popularity. For instance, you rarely see a position player pitch anymore, even in blowout games. One thing that always makes me wonder is why you don't see more knuckleball pitchers at the major league level. What could be the reasons behind this?

I've always wondered the same thing! Even though it's super effective when done right, it's so rare and so special to witness. I found this explanation, https://baseballegg.com/2026/04/14/why-the-knuckleball-is-the-hardest-but-most-dangerous-pitch-in-baseball/, because it is said that, if thrown incorrectly and without the proper technique, it can actually be very dangerous for pitchers in baseball. It's definitely risk vs reward and I think that is why we don't see it as much.
